When you are visiting Fethiye, this is the place to get your kilim, cicim, or rug shopping done. 🤩 Celal is one of a kind and will educate you on any aspect of Turkish carpet. Not only did I purchase from him several times while I was in Fethiye for a few months, but when my family member and friends visited I took them straight to Celal because he is a fair and honest rug dude. Also I fell in love with a vintage runner that was much too long for my space and he was able to split the runner in half overnight so I ended up with two runners for either side of my bed. His prices are very fair right off the bat so it’s not necessary to haggle. He speaks excellent English and does not pressure you to buy. My mom visited 7 rug stores in Antalya and didn’t feel comfortable to buy until she came to Old Orient Carpet Bazaar, where she found a very large kilim to fit her needs.

I had a wonderful experience purchasing a carpet and wall hanging on my recent visit to Fethiye. The owner, Celal, was incredibly patient and knowledgeable, both about carpets in general and the history of my purchases specifically, and made the whole experience positive. The pieces are beautiful and the shipping was shockingly fast. I purchased the carpets on a Friday morning and they arrived at my house in the U.S. the following Wednesday. I cannot thank Celal enough for making the purchase stress free and memorable.

We had such a lovely time learning about carpets and how to tell when they’re handmade. I walked away with a rug and two pillowcases that I’ll be proud to display in my home. Celal est très accueillant, patient et prend le temps de faire découvrir son univers à toute personne qui s'y intéresse. Vous aurez des informations sur les différents types de tapis et techniques de tissage, sur les symboles qui y figurent. Nous avons pu repartir avec le tapis qui nous convient et un intérêt encore plus vif pour l'art du tissage !
